What we store without asking

Two entries sit in the site’s local storage: the language you picked (“tc_lang”) and your answer to the banner (“terrenocheck-cookie-consent-v1”, which reads “essential”, “analytics”, “ads” or “optional”, meaning both). Neither holds personal data and neither is sent to our server.

Visit counting happens on our own server, so nothing is written to or read from your device for it. To tell one visit from another, the server derives a non-reversible code from the truncated IP address, the user agent and the browser language; that code changes every day at midnight UTC.

Lifetime of each entry

“tc_lang” (localStorage): chosen language, no automatic expiry; kept until you clear site data in your browser.

“terrenocheck-cookie-consent-v1” (localStorage): cookie preferences, no automatic expiry; a new choice replaces the old one, or you can clear it in your browser.

“tc_unlock” (necessary cookie): product access during the restricted phase, 180 days from using the unlock link.

“lc_rt_<order code>” (necessary HttpOnly cookie): private access to one report, scoped to its path, for 30 days from opening the link. The report and link remain available for 90 days; the cookie does not extend that period.

“_gcl_au” (Google Ads): conversion measurement, 90 days. Only with advertising consent. Google advertising cookie information.

“__oppref” (OpenAI, ads on ChatGPT): the ad click identifier, 30 days from the last arrival from an ad; “__obref”: a random browser reference, 365 days; “__oaiq_consent”: remembers whether the pixel may measure, also after withdrawal. Google lifetimes are defaults and may restart on a later visit. Your browser may apply shorter limits; you can delete the cookies at any time.

What loads only after you consent

The banner asks for consent to two separate purposes, both served by Google Ireland Limited. Statistics: Google Analytics, to see which pages get read. Advertising: Google Ads, to see which ad led to an order. “Preferences” lets you pick either, both or neither; “Allow optional cookies” (“Accept all” on a phone) turns both on. Each service writes cookies and sends Google data about the visit, including your IP address.

The Google tag is told only what you chose: with statistics alone, ad storage, user data and personalisation stay “denied”; with advertising alone, analytics storage stays “denied”.

Until you choose, the Google script is not fetched and your browser opens no connection to googletagmanager.com. The consent declared to the tag stays “denied” for ad storage, analytics storage, user data and personalisation.

The legal basis is your consent: Article 122 of the Italian Privacy Code (Legislative Decree 196/2003) and Article 6(1)(a) GDPR, following the Garante’s cookie guidelines of 10 June 2021.

If you choose “Essential only”

The site stays fully usable: you can search for the parcel, read the guides and complete a purchase. Only our own measurement is missing.

Changing your mind, or withdrawing

“Cookie preferences” sits at the foot of every page. It reopens the banner with the two boxes, and your next answer replaces the previous one. Untick a purpose and the Google tag on the open page is told “denied” for it at once; untick both and from the following page load the Google script is no longer requested. Withdrawal works for the future; it does not make earlier processing unlawful.

You can also clear site data for terrenocheck.it in your browser settings. That removes the cookies Google wrote on terrenocheck.it, and the banner comes back on your next visit. Cookies Google keeps on its own domains have to be cleared separately, again in the browser.

Third-party content: the map and the payment

The map you pick the parcel on loads every tile from api.mapbox.com, in all three views: satellite, roads and cadastre. Mapbox receives your IP address at the moment the map draws. It is there to make the selection work, not to measure you. We use no other map provider. The parcel boundaries themselves are served by terrenocheck.it from our own servers, not by a third party.

Payment runs on Stripe Checkout, which uses its own technology necessary for the charge and for fraud prevention. Typefaces are served from terrenocheck.it, so no request for the text you are reading goes to Google.

Google, the United States and your rights

Google also processes data in the United States. The transfer relies on the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses and on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, which Google has joined.
